Designer, Footwear – HQ

Then Rains has an exciting opportunity for you! We are now looking for a Footwear Designer to join our Design team at headquarters in Aarhus. This is an opportunity to work closely with experienced colleagues and contribute to the creative and commercial development of Rains’ footwear collections.

The Role

As Footwear Designer at Rains, you will be part of the Design team and work closely with the Design Director and Product Development. You will contribute to the design and development of seasonal footwear collections — from early ideas and research to final creations ready for production. This role combines creativity, technical understanding, and collaboration. From ensuring that our footwear designs reflect the Rains brand, to making sure every design meet commercial needs, and are developed with quality and functionality in mind.

Key Responsibilities

As our Footwear Designer, you will support the development of footwear collections by contributing creative ideas, technical input, and structured design work throughout the process.

Your tasks will include:

• Designing and developing footwear styles for seasonal collections.
• Researching trends, materials, and market insights to support design decisions.
• Creating sketches, material specifications, and product descriptions.
• Preparing detailed tech packs and briefs for Product Development and production.
• Improving and updating existing styles to ensure consistency across collections, closely with Product Development, Marketing, and Sales to support a smooth workflow.
• Participating in fittings, reviews, and follow-ups during development.
• Supporting communication with suppliers and external partners when needed.
• Taking part in occasional travel related to factory visits or research trips.

Who you are

We are looking for a positive, collaborative, proactive, creative, and detail-oriented designer who is thriving in a dynamic work environment. You have a strong ability to translate brand identity into compelling apparel collections and enjoy working with both ideas and execution.

We imagine that you have:

• Minimum 3 years of experience working with footwear design.
• Technical knowledge of footwear construction, materials, trims, and details.
• Experience working with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (InDesign is a plus).
• Experience with 3D tools such as CLO3D or similar is an advantage.
• Experience working with suppliers and production partners.
• A good understanding of trends and customer needs.
• Experience with PLM systems is a plus.
• Fluency in English, spoken and written.
